About Our Superintendent

Mr. Mathew Gulbrandsen has been serving as the Live Oak Unified School District Superintendent since July 2013.
 
Mr. Gulbrandsen is a graduate of the University of California, Davis where he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Social Science. He completed his teaching credential work at California State University, Chico, qualifying him to teach Geography, World History, United States History, Government and Economics. Mr. Gulbrandsen completed his Administrative Services Credential at California State University, Chico.
 
Mathew Gulbrandsen started his teaching career as a student teacher at Live Oak High School during the 1995-96 school year. He was hired as a social science teacher at Live Oak High School beginning with the 1996-97 school year and served at that position through 2000-2001. In 2001 he became Live Oak High School's assistant principal and six years later, in 2007, the principal of Live Oak High School which he proudly served for an additional six years. Through the years, Mr. Gulbrandsen served as a football, wrestling, and track coach, club advisor, class advisor, Athletic Director, School Site Council member, WASC chairperson for Live Oak High School, ROP Steering committee chair, and as the AVID District Director.
