Welcome to the Live Oak Unified School District!

We are extremely proud of our outstanding schools, teachers, and staff who serve over 1750 students from Live Oak and the surrounding area. We truly feel that our instructional programs, support efforts, and community service are of the highest quality and bring great value to our students.

For the 2011-2012 school year, we will continue to focus on strengthening instruction in a systematic manner to improve student achievement. Specifically, we will focus on reading comprehension strategies while continuing our English Language Development (ELD) methods, writing strategies, and advanced grammar techniques. Focusing on reading comprehension will allow every teacher to utilize strategies to support student learning no matter what the content or subject matter.

As you visit our campuses and explore our school websites, you will notice that despite being a small, rural district, we offer a wide range of special programs and student activities, and we believe our brand new facilities at Live Oak High School are second to none.

We believe that, despite uncertain economic times, Live Oak Unified will continue to work for the betterment of our students and community, and we are excited and encouraged to begin the 2011-2012 school year.

Sincerely,

Tom Pritchard
Superintendent
